Immanuel Church, Chichester - The basis of our faith
It is important that we are clear about what, as Christians, we believe. While it is not possible to summarise Christian belief in a single web page, the following points summarise the main aspects of our faith:

that God (Father, Son and Holy Spirit) created the universe and reigns over it;
that the Bible is inspired by God and is the final authority on our faith and on how we should live;
that people are naturally sinful and deserve God's judgement;
that when Jesus died on the cross, God's judgement fell on him and not on us;
that we receive God's forgiveness only through faith in Jesus and the effect of his death and resurrection;
that God is at work in every Christian through the Holy Spirit to make us more like Jesus;
that the Church consists of all Christians with Christ as the head, and is responsible for telling others about Jesus;
that one day Jesus will return to rule in power and glory.
